When Koli returns home to his rural village in the mountains of Albania to attend his father's funeral, he discovers that he has unknowingly plunged himself in the midst of a generations-old war between rival clans that threatens to claim his life. Forced into hiding, Koli confronts the tragic pattern of violence resulting from the tradition that keeps generation after generation mired in perpetual conflict.

After the death of his mother, Andres has to move in with his grandmother and his estranged father. Andres, who doesn't like to take a nap, wanders curiously through the neighborhood, where an illegal detention center is hidden, something everyone knows but no one dares mention.
