After setting out goals and objectives for the participant, the first major section delves into the types, frequencies and primary functions of controls, along with their application within information technology. Next, the building of a control framework is covered, incorporating an overview of common frameworks, key ingredients, and a process for establishing an effective framework. Following the mid-review questions, the course continues with a discussion of IT controls areas to include: people, physical security, logical access, change management issues, the system development life cycle, backup and recovery, and monitoring. Track: Peak performance methodologies and proven practices that advance the management skills of IT professionals. Learning objectives: Define controls. Explain why controls are necessary. Recognize business needs relative to IT operations. Understand how controls support compliance. Summarize the process for building a control framework. Describe different control frameworks that can be used to model a control infrastructure. Define multiple control areas and their importance to IT operations.
