Description

The New York Times bestselling author of Big Girl Panties is back with a funny, sweet, and sizzling novel about love, redemption, and second chances.

Heartthrob star quarterback Tyson Palmer has it all: a million-dollar arm, a winning season and the promise of a Superbowl ring. But more importantly, football’s biggest star is the ultimate comeback kid. After an addiction to painkillers nearly derailed his career, Tyson got sober and went from zero to hero in the eyes of the public.

But one person remains unconvinced: Dani Carr, a sports commentator with high ratings and following of her own.

Dani can’t forgive Tyson’s transgressions or forget a single passionate night with him back in college. To make things worse, Tyson doesn’t realize that the bombshell with huge ratings is the cute co-ed whose heart he once broke.

But can a sports journalist trying to claw her way to the top and a quarterback who knows all about rock bottom make it to the Super Bowl without destroying each other? And what will happen when Tyson—riding high now that he’s revived his career—realizes he needs to make an even more important comeback with Dani? Can he use his million-dollar moves to get past her defenses—or will she sideline him for good?

Stephanie Evanovich is a full-fledged Jersey girl from Asbury Park and the New York Times bestselling author of Big Girl Panties and The Sweet Spot.

Booklist Review

In the latest from best-selling Evanovich (The Sweet Spot, 2014), there seems to be no future for former football star Tyson Palmer. Lost in an endless fog of booze and drugs, he's nearing the bottom of a downward spiral. Just before he becomes yet another depressing fall-from-grace statistic, however, Tyson is kidnapped. And this is no ordinary abduction. The billionaire owner of the Mavericks refuses to let this expensive quarterback destroy his career and so captures Tyson and puts him through a grueling rehab and training program until he becomes the quintessential comeback kid. But happily-ever-after is never easy. Rising sports journalist Dani Carr, who had a run-in with Tyson in college, now has exclusive access to the Mavericks and harbors a secret that's about to change everything. More serious in tone than Evanovich's other books and filled with emotion, this sports romance will appeal to readers who like stories with a lot of heart.--Mosley, Shelley Copyright 2016 Booklist

Publisher's Weekly Review

Revelations, redemption, and romance make for a winning combination in Evanovich's charming third outing (after The Sweet Spot). A descent into drug and alcohol addiction sidelined quarterback Tyson Palmer's promising football career. Four years later, he's returned to the field, stronger and sober. Spunky sports commentator Dani Carr can never forget the night she spent with Tyson, her college crush, but she's hesitant to forgive the superstar for his reckless behavior. After a public meeting turns Dani into a media darling, Tyson becomes determined to win her over. Dani, however, wants to keep her heart and her secrets safe. Evanovich adds depth and dimension to a tried-and-true formula, providing readers with relatable struggles, memorable side characters, and a hilarious wedding fiasco. While the answer to "Will they or won't they?" is foregone, the sass and sexual tension keep the pages turning. (Mar.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

Kirkus Book Review

A quarterback with a past and a sports commentator with some secrets of her own fall for each other in this romance from Evanovich (The Sweet Spot, 2014, etc.). Hotshot quarterback Tyson Palmer is riding high on the success of a major comeback. Once upon a time, he was a washout with an addiction to painkillers and alcohol. But after a tough stint in rehab and plenty of time to improve his public image, he's now a completely clean and contrite sports star. But there's one person who's having a hard time forgetting about his pastDani Carr, an up-and-coming sports commentator. She and Tyson shared one night together back in the days of his addiction, and she can't forget the way he treated her. Even worse, Tyson doesn't recognize her the first time they meet on the field. When Dani takes a job as the personal reporter for another player on Tyson's team, the two of them end up spending a lot of time together. As Tyson tries to prove that he's truly a changed man, Dani struggles with building a career on the same team as the man who broke her heart and changed her lifewhile keeping a secret of her own. Evanovich's third book is sweet and charming while still bringing plenty of passion. The sports environment feels fresh, and Dani and Tyson are easily likable leads. Plus, fans will love the updates on the characters from her previous books. A charming romance full of heart, heat, and plenty of football. Copyright Kirkus Reviews, used with permission.
