Description

For decades, the fate of Wellspring, Michigan, has been tied to the Wells family’s fortunes—for better and worse. Their corporation keeps the small town afloat, despite the greed and corruption at its heart. But now, as the next generation comes into its own, a new day dawns . . .   It’s been years since Bryson Wells cut all ties to his hometown and family, going so far as to change his name and delete his social media accounts. He’s built a profession and a life for himself away from his domineering father, but as the man’s death draws near, Bryson finds himself back in Wellspring—and face to face with the woman who has a hold on his heart . . .   Jordan Clark’s life is not turning out quite as she planned. Instead of working towards her law degree, she’s in Wellspring caring for her ailing grandfather. Running into Bryson in the hospital brings back memories of the night their longtime friendship erupted into passion. The attraction between them has only gotten stronger. But Jordan will have to decide if Bryson’s love is real, or if he’s settling to get the family he’s always wanted. . .

Booklist Review

Bryson Wells vowed never to return to Wellspring, Michigan, but his siblings are begging him to come back, if only to say goodbye to their tyrannical father, who is slowly wasting away in a coma. Bryson doesn't care about closure, but then a chance run-in with his childhood crush, Jordan Clark, reveals that there is something worth going back for. For Jordan, what should have been a casual one-night-stand with a hottie who used to be the nerdy boy in high school suddenly turns serious when she discovers that she's pregnant. Both Bryson and Jordan are hesitant to get hitched for the sake of the baby because abandonment issues abound, but, slowly, they learn to face their fears with the help of friends and family, all very well-drawn characters who truly bring this idyllic small-town setting to life. Wright's believable and touching third title in her Wellspring series, following Enticed by You (2018), is her finest contemporary romance yet, told with the perfect balance of scorching sex and heart-melting tenderness.--Kristina Giovanni Copyright 2018 Booklist

Publisher's Weekly Review

Wright continues the Wellspring contemporary romance series (after Enticed by You) with a rich and vivid tale of family drama and righted wrongs. Bryson Wells vowed never to return to Wellspring, Mich., but when his abusive father nears death and his older brother, Parker, reaches out to him, he finds the longing for his siblings too great to ignore. Jordan Clark, Bryson's childhood best friend, put her dreams on hold to care for her ailing grandfather in Wellspring. She's startled to run into Bryson, who left town-and left her-without a word. When a night of no-strings-attached passion results in her pregnancy, Bryson is determined to be there for his child. His chivalrous nature is too much for Jordan to resist, despite her attempts to "focus on the baby." Both lovers have dealt with the pain of parental rejection, but Bryson, unlike Jordan, is ready to move forward with his life, and he's determined to help her do the same. The steamy love scenes are enhanced by tender affection; the siblings are as charming as always; and the introduction of Victoria, a half-sibling, is the perfect setup for the next installment in this delectable series. Kirkus Book Review

A surprise encounter turns Bryson Wells' life upside down in every possible way.Bryson has spent years building a life far away from his difficult father and the town of Wellspring, Michigan, where his family runs a water company. There's very little he misses, but when his brother texts him to meet up in California, he realizes not having his siblings in his life is something he might change. And when he runs into Jordan Clark, his best friend from high school and the woman he had a huge crush on, he remembers why he liked her so much. She's still gorgeous, too, and for the first time the two share a major spark, which leads to a sizzling one-night stand. Meanwhile, his father is dying but hovers on life support, and Bryson's brother convinces him to go to Michigan to say goodbye. Back in Wellspring, Bryson confronts a wealth of unexpected emotions, and, once his father dies, he understands that many of his negative feelings toward the town are connected to his father. Jordan has moved back to Wellspring, too, deferring law school to help her elderly grandparents run their business and navigate an illness. Jordan and Bryson rediscover their special bond, which is both strengthened and complicated by their newfound sexual attraction. After a surprise bequest from his father, Bryson makes plans to return to Wellspring, especially when he learns his night of passion with Jordan may have had consequences. The couple may find a special future together if Jordan can overcome her aversion to relationships. Wright's characters are appealing and realistic, and series fans will enjoy another visit to Wellspring, though a lack of real conflict and a narrative that at times feels mundane slow the book down.An engaging, romantic read.
