Publisher's Weekly Review

Kinsella (The Undomestic Goddess), author of the bestselling Shopaholic series, puts Las Vegas at the mercy of Becky Bloomwood Brandon, who takes an assortment of companions-including her best friend, Suze-on the trail of her missing father, Graham Bloomwood. Graham left L.A. months earlier on a vague mission to "put something right" from his past with Tarquin, Suze's husband, and Bryce, a hanger-on they all think is after Tarkie's money. Escapades ensue as the troupe connects with Graham's old friends Corey, a successful businessman; Brent, a down-and-outer; and Raymond, a reclusive artist. Add to the mix Suze's tumultuous relationship with Becky, a blackmail plot, and an elaborate Ocean's Eleven-style scam, and readers can't help but be delighted. Kinsella never once loses Becky's voice and heart, which is one of the joys of the Shopaholic series. Agent: Kimberly Witherspoon, Inkwell Management. (Oct.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. Library Journal Review

Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) returns in this eighth "Shopaholic" story (after Shopaholic to the Stars). She and her clan (Luke, Minnie, her best friend Suze, and to everyone's surprise her archnemesis Alicia) travel from L.A. to Las Vegas (and beyond) to track down Becky's father and Suze's husband Tarkie, who have disappeared while on a mysterious mission. Becky thinks they fled to Las Vegas to set something straight that happened in her father's past. Becky's familiar shopping and (new) gambling situations will make readers laugh out loud at her antics and anxieties. Kinsella adds a mystery and twists and turns at every corner in this latest work while maintaining Becky's signature voice. She keeps her cast of characters consistent with the other titles in the series while introducing new characters into the fold and even bringing back a favorite. This novel tackles more serious issues while maintaining a plot full of the humor, wit, and charm that "Shopaholic" fans have come to expect. Kinsella provides just enough recaps of previous titles to jog readers' memories without bogging down a perfectly paced story. Verdict Full of Becky's outrageous ideas, including a heist à la Oceans Eleven, this novel does not disappoint and will have readers scrambling to get their hands on the latest installment.-Erin Holt, Williamson Cty.
