Booklist Review
The Seedlings series continues to provide attractive nonfiction books geared to beginning readers and preschoolers. Hallmarks of the series include simple layouts, excellent color photos, glossy pages, and short sentences in large type. The topics are well chosen for this age group, and the books' clean, sophisticated design has considerable appeal. Each part of a standard nonfiction book is there in miniature: a table of contents, eight double-page spreads, and brief appended elements including a glossary, lists of print and Internet resources, and an index. On a double-page spread, the content might be as minimal as a single photo with a two-word sentence or as lengthy as three sentences, but children will learn from the clearly reproduced pictures as well as the limited texts. Helicopters explains what is special about this vehicle and then shows its role in rescuing people who are hurt or lost. Eye-catching informational books.--Phelan, Carolyn Copyright 2015 Booklist
