Gr 8 Up--This charming cookbook takes inspiration from the Disney/Pixar canon of films, spanning from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to new favorites like Moana and Coco. Divided into four sections: The Princesses, Old World Cuisine, Global Cuisine, and Wonderland, there is something for everyone. Each recipe page has a unique color scheme and border, with a one or two-page photo spread of the finished product. Many also include charming, silhouetted illustrations for visual interest. There are, however, a few confusing organizational choices. Tips for complicated recipes appear at the end of each section, instead of alongside the recipe in question. Recipes are rated in difficulty on a scale of one to three, but the rating symbol is different for every recipe: two Lumiere silhouettes for Beauty and the Beast's Royal Souffle, and one apple silhouette for Snow White's A Pie for Grumpy. It is difficult to imagine that Quasimodo's Croissants, which are described as traditional Parisian croissants, and King Louie's Fruit Salad should be given the same level of difficulty. VERDICT This cookbook and its stunning design will appeal to Disney lovers of all ages. While it suffers from some organizational choices, Disney fans will be inspired to cook. A recommended purchase.
