The power of the dog

In 1920s Montana, swaggering rancher Phil Burch (Benedict Cumberbatch) readily extended the cruelty he heaped upon passive brother George (Jesse Plemons) to his sibling's fragile new wife Rose (Kirsten Dunst) and her sensitive med student son Peter (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Fatefully, the young man discovers the compulsions beneath Burch's macho facade-and Phil's attempts to mend fences may be his undoing.
