Gr 6-8-This look at the Second World War starts off with a synopsis of the Great War, illustrating how its conclusion was a cause of World War II. The succeeding chapters, each comprised of a spread, cover a variety of topics: personalities, major campaigns, battles, tactics, armaments, and the war's effect on American society. Chapter layouts vary slightly but most contain a color map with a legend, photographs, and informative "Did You Know?" boxes. Maps and images are captioned, but occasionally the information is redundant. The final chapter covers the United Nations and the Cold War. VERDICT A good choice for libraries in need of a general introduction to World War II.-Eldon Younce, Anthony Public Library, KS © Copyright 2015.
