Lewin-Benham explains the Reggio Approach to teaching early education, describing in each chapter its features and how specific projects at the Model Early Learning Center in Washington D.C. reflect the approach, its teaching principles, and connections to children's intelligences. She also addresses what teachers' beliefs are and how they are shaped, and issues in early education such as teacher quality, assessment, special education, program/population match, and family involvement. Lewin-Benham is an educator who has developed programs for economically disadvantaged children and families and is the former director of the Capital Children's Museum and Model Early Learning Center.
