Raised her twin sons on her own, worked her butt off and created a stable life. And she finds herself staying with the one guy who’s always revved her engine…even if he’s a decade south of her dating range.Orlando Wiggins has never been able to take his eyes off Ms. V. But at Carnival, between the sensual dancing, heated looks and electric touches, whatever he’s been feeling for her is definitely reciprocated. Now Trinidad is having the time of her life. Every cell in her body is charged, alive. Events planner Trinidad Velasques, 35, devotes herself to her career and raising her twin teenage boys, leaving little time for dating. But that doesn't stop her from fantasizing about Orlando Wiggins, the hot 25-year-old aspiring lawyer who signed up to mentor her twins through a program at their school. Meanwhile, Orlando, who had to grow up fast after his father's death when he was nine, faces a life-changing moment when a woman from his past reveals that he's a father. He heads to Ofele Town, Fla., to celebrate Caribbean Carnival and meet his daughter. Trinidad's boys, sensing the chemistry between Orlando and their mother, take it on themselves to play matchmaker, tricking Trinidad into joining Orlando's trip. Readers will have to suspend disbelief to accept this contrivance, but it paves the way for much fun to follow. as together they embark on a weekend that will change their lives. Cunningham explores the wealth of Caribbean culture while also delving into serious themes like respectability politics--and delivering red-hot sex scenes. LJ Express Reviews

Trinidad Velasquez had a wild side—once. A single mother to 15-year-old twins, she's put that part of her aside in favor of giving her boys a stable life. The man she's been seeing is steady and dependable, but he just doesn't make her heart race. That honor belongs to Orlando Wiggins, a man who's 10 years her junior and her sons' mentor. Unknown to Trinidad, Orlando's been the one keeping his family together for the last decade and a half, and he's exhausted. A law school degree could be the answer to his financial concerns, even though it's not the future he dreamed of for himself. When Trin's boys trick her into taking a Caribbean carnival-themed vacation, Orlando's the last person she expects to run into—but their chemistry is undeniable. Can they have a future beyond one hot summer? VERDICT Cunningham's (Out of Office) tropical, vacation-themed romance delivers the steam in more ways than one. It's sure to appeal to those who appreciate an appealing Caribbean setting, as well as those who long to escape for a while, even if it's just through the pages of a book.—Rebecca Moe
