Description

From the screenwriter of the Netflix Original viral hit, A Christmas Prince, comes another heartwarming holiday story about a beautiful Grinch who’s determined to get her dream job even if it means spending a week at a Christmas Camp where she discovers an unexpected love.

Haley Hanson’s idea of the perfect Christmas is escaping to the Caribbean to work so she can avoid all the traditional Christmas distractions. Over the years, she’s sacrificed her personal life to climb the corporate ladder at a prestigious Boston advertising agency. Now she just needs to land a coveted Christmas toy company account to make partner. But first, her boss, Larry, thinks she needs a holiday attitude adjustment, so he ships her off to a Christmas Camp at Holly Peak Inn to help her find her Christmas spirit.

Arriving at the charming mountainside inn, Haley meets the owner’s handsome son, Jeff, and feels an instant spark, but resists the attraction, refusing to be distracted from her goal of doing all the required Christmas tasks as fast as possible so she can get back to work.

At first Haley struggles with all the traditional Christmas Camp activities. It’s not until she finally allows herself to slow down, live in the moment, and let Christmas back into her heart, that she begins to grow closer to Jeff. But when he finds out Haley’s come up with a plan to help his dad save the struggling inn while he’s been trying to convince his dad to sell it, their relationship takes a serious holiday hit.  Now it will take the magic of the season to bring these two hearts together.

Booklist Review

Because it will secure the promotion to partner that she desperately wants, brand strategist Haley Hanson will do anything to land the multimillion-dollar Tyler Toys account, even if it means she has to attend Christmas Camp. Haley knows that some (OK, all) of her coworkers and most of her friends and family think she is a complete Grinch, but that doesn't mean she can't learn enough about Christmas while away at Holly Peak Inn so that she can come up with a knockout holiday campaign for Tyler Toys. At least, that is her plan until she bumps into Jeff Jacoby, the son of the inn's owner. Haley vows to check off everything on the camp's activity list as quickly as possible, while Jeff is determined to show Haley that you can't rush the magic of Christmas. With its perfectly evoked New England winter wonderland setting and cast of charming characters, Schaler's delightful debut will warm the heart of even the most hardened Scrooge.--John Charles Copyright 2018 Booklist

Library Journal Review

In line for a big promotion contingent upon landing a major toy company contract, Haley Hanson, branding expert extra-ordinaire and Christmas avoider, agrees to attend a weeklong Christmas Camp in the mountains in order to be allowed to pitch her idea to the boss. Her goal? To complete all the activities and get her "certificate." The result? A life-changing experience. The relationship that develops between Haley and architect Jeff Jacoby, the son of the retreat's owner, is both tense and romantic, and the Holly Peak Inn setting and campers are thoroughly endearing-particularly the dog Max and two teens. VERDICT A -charming movie-to-book crossover that would be right at home on the Hallmark Channel and a winner for fans looking for a touching holiday read. Schaler (A Christmas Prince) divides her time between New York City and Scottsdale, AZ. © Copyright 2018. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
