School Library Journal Review
PreS-Gr 2-Starring an updated but still literal-minded childhood version of the beloved character, this easy reader describes a nature excursion during which Amelia Bedelia follows her teacher's instructions to the letter, embarking on a fun- and pun-filled adventure. The protagonist's upbeat perseverance is just as sunny as the buoyant cartoon artwork. (c) Copyright 2013. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. Horn Book Review
A young Amelia Bedelia goes on a hike with her class to find items for the classroom nature table. The scenario offers plenty of opportunities ("hit the trail"; "take a hike") to exploit her signature literal-mindedness, but some gags are carried out clumsily in the easy-to-read sentences. The light-footed art captures the rosy-cheeked kids' enjoyment from being in nature. (c) Copyright 2013. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
