Description
Fourteen-year-old Ellis is getting ready to leave the Southwest for a boarding school in the east. This means leaving behind the only real father he has ever known, Goat Man, a loner who maintains a home on Ellis's mom's property while raising a small herd of goats. Goat Man teaches Ellis the meaning of stability and commitment, and the joys of a good smoke.Away at boarding school Ellis more than makes the grade, mostly while staying high. And much to his New Age mother's dismay, Ellis meets up with his straight-arrow father, now living in the east with his new girlfriend and running a store specializing in "authentic" Southwest furniture.Back home Goat Man rehearses for a journey he, Ellis, and the goats will take together during Ellis's spring break - a secret trek across the border to Mexico. As they embark on their cross-desert trip, boy and man are forced to reevaluate a relationship they thought was the only thing that would never change in their crazy lives.
