This is a list of the Indigenous works I've found meaningful over the past year. Some fiction and a few deep dives into history. Power is a Dakota relative and has woven the lifeways and challenges of our ancestor's lives into her prose. Smith, Little Badger, and Dimaline are suitable for younger readers. Wendelboe and Erdrich draw on modern Native experiences for their stories. Hawk gives us stores suitable for long spooky-season nights and tells us all why we should Never Whistle at Night. Treuer tell the story of our last 150 years through a Native lens. Rice is the most authoritative source for hyper local history along the Potomac. Wherever you connect with our stories - I thank you. Wopida. - Richard A
