Description

So you've made it to Valhalla. Now what? This "who's who" audio guide to the gods, goddesses, and other important figures of Norse mythology was commissioned by Helgi, who, after more than a millennium as manager of Hotel Valhalla, became fed up with answering the same questions from newly deceased heroes at check-in. The profiles provide essential stats, interviews, and personal reflections so you can identify the gods and avoid those awkward introductions. Handy facts about other beings round out this go-to audiobook. You'll never see Ratatosk as a cute little rodent or confuse a dwarf with an elf ever again!

School Library Journal Review

Gr 3-7-Kieran Culkin does a wonderful job bringing the characters and accounts in this audiobook to life. Riordan's enjoyable, anachronistic humor and storytelling wit shine through as Magnus Chase welcomes listeners to Hotel Valhalla and gives them a guided tour of some of the characters and tales of Norse mythology. Listeners may be familiar with Odin, Loki, and Thor but perhaps not with the ways they are described here. Lesser-known Norse gods and goddesses are also presented. Riordan fans will be pleased that he has branched out from Greek myth to the Norse tales. Listeners will find laugh-out-loud moments, interesting information about Norse mythology, and entertaining stories here. VERDICT A winner for both Riordan fans and those new to his work and a natural fit for mythology classes or studies.-Cynthia Ortiz, Hackensack High School, NJ © Copyright 2016.
