When Willie Mays was a boy, he kept his ears pressed against the radio listening to professional baseball and the play of Joe DiMaggio. He wanted desperately to play pro-ball but was not allowed to because he was a Negro and brown skinned people were not allowed to play with white skinned people. But there were many other Negro men who loved the game and formed their own league. Willie eventually joined them and even there he excelled above everyone else. As time went by, Willie's skill and determination became known and a white league team, the NY Giants hired him and he took the team all the way. Even after he didn't play for two years because he was drafted, he came back better than ever and made one amazing play after another and got award after award. You never heard of Willie Mays?!
