Linda has always wanted to be an astronaut and when the opportunity came she applied for the job among thousands of others,b ut only six would be accepted and she was one of them. Linda had to take a lot of medical test to see if she was physically fit hand the stresses of life in space. Next, she spent 18 months in training experiencing an environment that had no gravity like there is on earth. Before each mission, each astronaut has to practice what their mission will be. Linda works with 8 on her team who have to study how to repair a telescope. After she had done her job, Linda has to exercise for 2 hours because not having gravity, her muscles and bones don't have to work very hard and will begin to deteriorate if she does not. The orbiter has to enter the atmosphere just right or it will burn up, but Linda and the crew make it back safely every time.
