Booklist Review
Monroe continues the adventures of longtime friends Lola and Joan in this twisting novel, the second in her Lonely Heart, Deadly Heart series, following Every Woman's Dream (2016). Joan is tired of her wealthy but unsatisfying husband, Reed, who promises to kill himself if she leaves him. Instead, Joan continues to secretly see men from her online sex club. Lola also goes on dates with sex-club men, including Calvin, and she is convinced that he is going to free her from her unhappy life living with her needy stepmother. But Calvin is the serial killer introduced in the previous book, and Monroe narrates from his point of view as he plans to murder Lola. The friendship between Lola and Joan is the strength of this series, though neither knows how to help the other improve her situation, as things continue to get worse for both of them. Joan's husband forces himself on her, and Lola's stepmother's children move in and treat her very badly. Monroe's fans will enjoy this intense novel, which will leave readers anxious for the story to continue, as everything points to an exciting next installment.--Alessio, Amy Copyright 2017 Booklist
