Description
When a body washes up on the beach near the outskirts of Dublin, Inspector Matt Minogue immediately recognizes the killing as "execution-style": the young man has been shot three times in the head at close range, and shows no signs of other abuse. Minogue's impression soon assumes ominous overtones, for the victim is identified as Paul Fine, a member of Dublin's small Jewish community, and a PLO-linked organization claims credit for the murder. Even though Minogue desperately wants to believe that this promising young man wasn't killed solely on account of his religious beliefs, all the evidence initially points that way. But some fascinating detective work and then an unexpected second murder lead the inspector in a wholly new direction. Soon he realizes he has uncovered another extremist sect, one that has political ambitions and just as disturbing, police connections.
