Description
The Arlington Hall Record Group covers the history of the Arlington Hall Junior College from 1927 through the 1990s. Most of the materials come from the alumnae and are in the form of yearbooks, newsletters, college catalogs, scrapbooks, photographs and assorted ephemera relecting the use of Arlington Hall as a college.
Biographical or Historical Data
Arlington Hall was an operating women's junior college and girl's high school from 1927 until 1942. In 1942, after being deemed essential to the war effort, the secretary of War took over the facility under the Second War Powers Act. The school became the headquarters of the Army Signal Corps, later the Intelligence and Security Command. At this time it became known as Arlington Hall Station. Today both the National Foreign Affairs Training Center and the Army National Guard Readiness Center operate out of Arlington Hall Station.
