RG 57 is divided into two subgroups based on the activities of Johnson's professional and personal life. Within these subgroups the subject files are arranged alphabetically and then the documents within the files are arranged chronologially.

Description
The collection is composed of information related to the Arlington Symphony including a good look behind the scenes during Johnson's tenure as president. The collection also houses architectural records for recreation facilities in Arlington.
Biographical or Historical Data
As a professional architect, Hugh B. Johnson (1904-1992) worked as a partner in the Washington D.C. based architectural firm McGaughan and Johnson Architects. The firm focused on the design of homes, schools, and churches. As an active member of the Arlington community, Johnson involved himself with various community activities especially music. He sang with the choir for the Clarendon United Methodist Church and served as the Chair of the music committee. Johnson also served as president (1956-1961;196601967) and board member for the Arlington Symphony Association.
