Description
Former President of the Arlington County Branch of the NAACP William Cassell Butler presents his personal papers to the Arlington County Public Libraries. Library Director Charles Brown opens the ceremony and discusses the role of the library system in preserving African-American history. Al Eisenberg, Chair of the Arlington County Board gives welcoming remarks. Jane Robinson, President of the Arlington Historical Society talks about the importance of perserving the history of the Civil Rights movement in the County. Robert McGregor, current President of the Arlington County Branch of the NAACP introduces William Cassell Butler and his role in the Civil Rights movement. A panel discussion about history of Civil Rights movement in the County follows, with the conclusion being the presentation of Butler's papers to the library. Recorded 4 February 1990.
