Description
History by the Block is an educational design seeking to strengthen the teaching of history in the Arlington Public Schools by focusing attention on the role of architecture and the design process in American social history. This unit, Block Study: Learning about your Local Community, uses a block of houses in the neighborhood of Swanson Intermediate School to demonstrate how people live, what they value, and how they are influenced by their neighbors. It includes five lesson plans and was produced for grades 7-8.
