Description
Laurence Potter (1916-1998) lived at 1904 N. Johnson St. His correspondence begins in 1962 with the concern that his home is in the path that I-66 is going to take through Arlington. The collection consists of letters he wrote to staff at the Virginia Department of Highways and staff in Arlington County. In these letters he discusses the concerns for his home and how he believes the Virginia Department of Highways has not handled the I-66 matter appropriately. The letters are for information gathering purposes and do not register a protest. The collection also includes photographs of I-66 construction around his home, material about the right-of-way, planning for I-66, and newspaper articles and the transcript of a television show about highway construction.
