RG 144 includes a mixture of materials Louise Chestnut collected about many issues with which she was involved. The materials are from organzations such as Save Our Open Spaces, the Coalition for Optimum Growth, Center for Urban Education,a nd the Arlington Outdoor Education Association and topics such as Gyspy Moth control, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, and the Greathouse Tract Palisades.

Louise Chestnut has lived in Arlington County for more than forty years and has been active in Arlington's civic life since the early 1970s. She was an avid participant at the Arlington County Board meetings. One of her chief interests was unrestrained growth and development especially development near Metro. In addition, she derived a lot of satisfaction from getting other Arlingtonians involved in the Arlington community.
