Description

Before the dozens of night stalkers slain by Buffy, there was the first and the best: Dracula. And now everyone’s favorite bloodsucker is back, and captured in a thrillingly told, spine-tingling graphic novel. Originally written by Bram Stoker in 1897, Dracula gave the world one of literature’s most compelling characters. Michael Mucci translates the tale and Ben Caldwell adds action-packed images—with meticulous attention paid to the finer details in each piece of art, from facial expressions to the historical accuracy of costuming, architecture, and heraldry. Young readers will love it.

Booklist Review

Mucci's entry in the All-Action Classics series follows Stoker's original story closely. Jonathan Harker, intrepid estate agent, travels to distant Transylvania to handle the business of moving house for his eccentric client, Count Dracula. When the reality of the Count's true nature dawns on young Harker, he escapes from Dracula's ramshackle castle, only to have the vampire follow him London. Action-packed and full of the thrills and chills expected of Gothic literature, this adaptation is a fine way to introduce reluctant teen readers to a worthy classic. With fluidity and stylized flair, Caldwell's beautiful art, reminiscent of  Don Bluth's, aptly captures the mood of the tale, shifting effortlessly between muted somber tones and vivid splashes of color.--Coleman, Tina Copyright 2008 Booklist
