"The Arlington County Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) is being upgraded and expanded to meet new state and federal regulations, continue safely processing wastewater for a growing population and preserve our environment. The WPCP's $568 million upgrade will modernize the aging facility to meet new, stricter regulations and better serve Arlington residents. Arlington County formed a "Master Plan Team" in 2001 made up of staff and outside experts to address compliance with the new regulations and other operational issues."
