Set in the early 1970s, this book follows three characters--a boxer, a Vietnam vet, and a femme fatale--as their worlds intersect. The boxer is trying to escape his father's shadow and find a life outside the world of crime where he was raised. The veteran returns home to find that the things he learned in the service are both blessing and a curse. The girl was innocent, but thanks to the struggle for survival, is now a femme fatale trying to find a way off the path of destruction.
