Description
In 1940, four boys, Jacques, Jojo, Simon, and Marcel decided to explore a cave in the south of France called Lascaux hoping to find buried teasure. What they found instead was early painings of cows, bulls, bison, horses, and reindeer. Months after it was discoverered, the Lascaux cave was closed because of the war. It was reopened in 1948. Although there were other known caves with prehistoric wall paintings, Lascux was the only one in which the colors had not faded. There were approximately 600 paintings and 1,500 engravings. This book is a fictional recreation based on anecdotal accounts.
