RG 30 houses reports written about Arlington County neighborhoods and specific historic buildings. These reports are, for the most part, unpublished works done by students of historic preservation from local colleges and universities, county generated studies, or Historic American Buildings Surveys (HABS). The subjects of the reports include neighborhoods, communities, and houses and buildings in Arlington.

The subject photograph file houses a diverse collection of photographs reflecting a wide variety of subjects. The photographs have come to the Virginia Room from many sources. Because no single subject is represented by a large quantity of images, the images have been compiled into this single collection. Almost all of the photographs represent Arlington subjects, including people, places, and events.

The Albert E. Dye collection consists of a small amount of material retrieved from 6036 Munson Hill Rd., Arlington, Virginia, the former residence of A.J. Dye. The relationship between A.J.
