The photographs housed in PG 800 are images depicting an Arlington tract of land known in 1923 as the Cruit Tract. Today the area is commonly referred to as Lyon Village. Most of the images date from July or August 1923 and were taken during a land survey of the Cruit Tract. In addition, there are four images of Lyonhurst, a large estate owned by Frank Lyon, the developer of Lyon Village.

Ruth Levin donated these photographs in the 1990s. The collection has photographs of the Sher family and two family businesses. One of the businesses was M. Sher & Sons General Merchandise located at the corner of Columbia Pike and Walter Reed Dr. The other business was Columbia Hardware and Applicance Company. The collection includes both interior and exterior photographs for each store. Most of the photographs are identified.

PG 500 houses images of historic homes in Arlington. The photographs were taken during historical house tours conducted by the Arlington Historical Society sometime between 1964 and 1987. The photogaphs do not represent a comprehensive collection of all the buildings toured over these years. Most of the images are unidentified and undated.

This collection contains twenty-two images of houses in Ashton Heights, originally taken as color slides, but presented here in black and white prints. PG 223 is material taken from the Alexandria Gazette Packet photograph morgue. Documents and images relating to Arlington County were removed from the morgue and given to the Community Archives. The collection covers people and news stories in mainly Arlington, but also touches on Alexandria and Fairfax County. The bulk of the material dates 2001-2003.

The photographs in PG 208 represent people, places and events. All are connected to Arlington County history. Sources of these pictures include the National Archives, the Library of Congress, and the Arlington Historical Society. Some of the photographs have been used in displays, and others are duplicated in other Virginia Room collections. Several are not identified and the provenance is unknown.
