Description

This collectable hardcover edition features a beautiful cover and deluxe packaging, including color interior text and illustrations! One of TIME MAGAZINE’s 100 Best Fantasy Books of All Time The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other giants—rather than the BFG—she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her! “This warmhearted tall tale, published a year before Dahl picked up the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement, artfully whisks readers away on a magical journey through London, Giant Country and beyond, to a realm of wild imagination.” --TIME Magazine

School Library Journal Review

Gr 3-6-Dahl's classic story about the Big Friendly Giant and heroine Sophie, first published in 1982, comes to life in this audiobook read by David Williams. The BFG is not in the business of gobbling up "human beans," but instead spends his days eating the foul-tasting snozzcumbers and drinking frobscottle. He spends his nights spreading good dreams to children. One night after Sophie sees the BFG spreading good dreams, he takes her back to Giant Country because she witnessed him at work. Sophie learns that there are bone-crunching, 50-foot tall giants who feast on "little chiddlers" from around the world. The two pair up to stop the Bloodbottler, Meatdripper, and other giants from traveling the world at night. They devise a plan to recruit the Queen of England to help stop the terrifying giants. The story is magically narrated by Williams who gives each character depth and personality. Sound effects and music enhance the telling. Children will want to listen to the story again and again.-Jessica Gilcreast, McDonough Elementary School, Manchester, NH (c) Copyright 2013.
